Description:Tuesday to NEWPORT Buses leave at 9:30 and head to St. George’s School in Middletown. There we will hear BRINK BUSH play a recital of German Romantics. *** Then on into Newport proper where you will have free time until 2:00. You can chose to join a tour of the NEWPORT MANSION “The BREAKERS” summer “cottage: of Cornelius Vanderbilt. This side trip will include lunch. Fee is $25 for both. *** At 2:00 be at ST. JOSEPH’s to hear ANDREW GALUSKA. He will present a concert based on great works of the Faith. *** Back to Providence and the CATHEDRAL of SAINTS PETER AND PAUL for the following workshops: -1- Master Class with GILLIAN WEIR -2- Children’s Music Ministries with JODY BLAINE DAVIS -3- Gregory WHO? Gregorian Chant – you’ll find Gregorian Chant can be easily learned under the guiding hand of WILLIAM TORTOLANO. *** Then off to supper followed by a wonderful event back at the CATHEDRAL called “Celebrating the Music of C. ALEXANDER PELOQUIN” *** Remembering Alexander Peloquin The Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul will be the site of a musical celebration of the works of the late Dr. Alexander Peloquin, outstanding composer of choral music for the Catholic Church. The event will include a wide range of his works performed by the Gregorian Concert Choir, soloists and orchestra under the direction of F. ANTHONY MANCINI. As music master at the Cathedral and composer in residence at Boston College, Peloquin was credited with reshaping church music in America. As the language of the church changed from Latin to English, he was the first to take up his pen and write for the modern church
