Description:International concert organist Matteo Imbruno will perform works by Sweelinck, Frescobaldi, Bach, and other baroque composers at Brown University’s Sayles Hall on Sunday, February 4, at 4:00 p.m. Imbruno will play on the University’s historic 1903 Hutchings-Votey organ. Other composers featured in this concert include Scheidemann, Bruna, Fischer, and De Arauxo. Currently, Imbruno is the organist of the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam, the very position that Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck held in the seventeenth century. Active as concert performer, Imbruno has played in the most prestigious festivals and music centres of Europe, Japan, and the United States. He is invited to give master classes throughout Europe, especially on subjects concerning renaissance and baroque music. Imbruno has recorded six CDs on various historic organs and has made several recordings for the BBC radio in London. The concert is free and open to the public. Sayles Hall is handicapped accessible.
