Description: | That's quaking, not quacking. Sharing a 200th birthday year with Wordsworth and Longfellow is J.G. Whittier. 1807 was a good year for poets. Most remembered in church circles for writing Dear Lord and Father of Mankind, he was also a member of the Massachusetts legislature and a prominent anti-slavery advocate. He died in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire but they buried him in Amesbury, MA. |
